Description:

The Forbidden City — The Imperial Palace was formerly known as the Forbidden City, which covers an area of over 720,000 m2, has more than 9,000 buildings and construction area of 150,000 square meters. Forbidden City was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, it is the existing China’s largest and most complete ancient buildings. It was first built in 1406 and finished in 1420. In its 500 years of history, there were 24 emperors living here. Experiencing several times renovation and expansion during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Forbidden City is still remaining its original layout. (closed on Monday)

Tian’anmen Square — Tian’anmen Square is the biggest city center square in the world, covering 44 hectares in the heart of Beijing. It is the place where history-changing events and ceremonies occurred. The north entrance gate is the magnificent Gate of Heavenly Peace (Tian’anmen), the symbol of the People’s Republic China. Tiananmen Square is the Holy Land in the hearts of the Chinese people, and is the heart of great China.

The Temple of Heaven — Temple of Heaven is located in the south-east of the Forbidden City. It covers an area of 273 hectares which is four times larger than the Forbidden City. It was used to hold a memorial ceremony for the God in Winter Solstice Festival and to pray for harvest in the first month of the lunar year by the emperors in Ming and Qing dynasties. It is China’s existing largest structure for sacrifice to heaven

Panjiayuan Antiques Market — Situated west of Panjiayuan Bridge and south of the East Third Ring Road, the Panjiayuan Antiques Market is very accessible. The market deals mainly in antiques and arts and crafts. It also has the reputation of being the most inexpensive antiques market in Beijing, attracting foreign and domestic tourists. Whether you want to sightsee, window-shop or buy collectors’ items, there really is something for everyone. Even

Hilary Clinton has famously shopped at Panjiayuan.

Description:

Outside Viewing of Water Cube — It is recommended to appreciate this magnificent architecture from the outside. The National Aquatics Center, also known as the Water Cube, is located on Olympic Green, with the Bird’s Nest Stadium, on Beijing’s north-south axis. It was built as the main natatorium for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and became known as one of the Games’ iconic structures. The external appearance was inspired by the natural formation of soap bubbles!

Outside Viewing of Bird’s Nest — China’s National Stadium, or the Bird’s Nest, as it has become known, is the world’s largest steel structure and the most complex stadium ever constructed. It is saddle-shaped, but the interlocking steel parts resembling a lattice of twigs, make the name Bird’s Nest an obvious alias. Beijing National Stadium hosted the spectacular Opening and Closing Ceremonies, athletic events, and football final of the 2008 Summer Olympics. You can see the Bird Nest from the outside to appreciate the unique and creative design.

The Great Wall Mutianyu Section (cable car not included) — Mutianyu Great Wall was first built in the mid-6th century during the Northern Qi, making it older than the Badaling section. It is connected with Jiankou in the west and Lianhuachi and Jinshanling in the east. In 1569, the Mutianyu Great Wall was rebuilt, mainly with granite and is one of the best-preserved sections with the largest construction scale and best quality among all sections of Great Wall, being 7-8 meters high and 4-5 meters wide with 22 watchtowers on this 2,250-meter-long section. It served as the northern barrier defending the capital and the imperial tombs.

Day 05: Beijing- -Shanghai (B,L)

The Summer Palace — Originally known as the “Garden of Clear Ripples”, the Summer Palace is a magnificent imperial garden located 15 km north of Beijing City. This is the largest ancient preserved garden in China and a former summer retreat for Emperors and the chosen few! The site includes more than 100 ancient style pavilions, mansions, towers, halls, temples, bridges and an enormous clear water lake. During the hot Beijing summers, the Imperial Family preferred the beautiful gardens and airy pavilions of the Summer Palace to the walled-in Forbidden City. It is also the best preserved royal palace, known as the Royal Garden Museum.

Nanluoguxiang Alley — Nanluoguxiang is one of the most famous Hutong districts in Beijing. Hutong refer to the old style alleyways where large numbers of one-story courtyard houses are located in Beijing. Many of these areas are now protected in order to preserve their unique architecture. Nanluoguxiang is one of these places, which has proved to be a mix of history, fashion and shops. No wonder it’s a big hit with tourists especially the younger generation.

Day 06: Shanghai (B,L)

Description:

The Bund — The Bund is a waterfront area in central Shanghai. The Shanghai Bund has dozens of historical buildings, lining the Huangpu River, that once housed numerous banks and trading houses from United Kingdom, France, the United States, Italy, Russia, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as the consulates of Russia and Britain. The Bund is located along the Huangpu River which is located in the Huangpu District, the center of Shanghai. It is the scenery line of Shanghai. It has the Shanghai landmarks Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Jinmao Tower in the opposite across the Huangpu River. It is a must-see place while enjoying your Shanghai Tours.

Jade Buddha Temple — Jade Buddha Temple is located in a crowd of Shanghai City. It was first built in 1882 in Jiangwan on the southern outskirts of Shanghai. In order to make it convenient for the adherents to visit, it was bodily moved to Shanghai City at the present sire in 1918. It is named for its two bejeweled white jade Buddha. It receives thousands of visitors and worshipers everyday while keeps its sanctity and charming. Carved from a whole piece of white jade, the sitting jade Buddha statue is translucent with a solemn expression, displaying the excellent skill and extraordinary art of Chinese people.

Yuyuan Garden — Yuyuan Garden — Yu Garden or Yuyuan Garden is an extensive Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai, China. It was first built in the 16th century by provincial governor, Pan Yunduan, in honor of his father who was the then government minister. It has many scenic courtyards decorated with baroque rockery, pools, and flora that are all connected by corridors and passageways. The delicate design and exquisite layout of the whole garden reveals a strong impression of “garden in the garden, whole in the part”.

Exterior view of Oriental Pearl TV Tower — Walk along the Bund, from which you will have an exterior view of Oriental Pearl TV Tower just on the opposit of the Huangpu River.Completed in 1995 to a highly innovative design, Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower has become a landmark of excellence in architecture and is a favourite sight for tourists in Shanghai. At 468 meters, it is the third tallest TV and radio tower in the World.

 

 

 

Nanjing Road — Nanjing Road, 5.5 km in full length, enjoys the reputation as China No. 1 commercial center. It was the earliest commercial street in Shanghai since the city opened to the outside world.The street stretches across the central city of Shanghai and next to Huangpu River in the east, the cross point of Jing’an Temple and West Yan’an Road. The road is divided into east and west parts by Xizang Road. On both sides of the street, there are more than 360 malls, department stores, specialized shops, restaurants and cultural and recreational facilities.

Day 07: Shanghai (B)

Shanghai Disneyland — Shanghai Disneyland Park is an upcoming theme park located in Pudong, Shanghai, that will be part of the Shanghai Disney Resort. It is expected to open on June 16, 2016. As a replacement for a “hub”, the center of the park will instead feature an 11-acre collection of gardens called the Gardens of Imagination.[4] Other themed areas will include the Enchanted Storybook Castle, the largest and tallest Disney castle featuring an underground boat ride,[5] and Treasure Cove, home of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure ride.

Day 08: Departure Shanghai (B) to Chengdu  by flight or train and fly back to Kathmandu.
